French cyclist Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) has won the second stage in the Tour de Provence on Saturday. After 180.6 kilometers from Ales to Manosque, he was the fastest of a leading group of seventeen riders. His compatriot and reigning world champion Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step) finished second and Italian Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) finished third.
It was Coquard’s second win this year. He also won a stage in the Star of Bessège.
Ganna maintained the lead in the general classification of the four-day stage race. He is 2 seconds ahead of Alaphilippe and 14 on the Frenchman Pierre Latour (TotalEnergies). The Tour of Provence ends on Sunday. The finish of the 169-kilometer ride is on the Montagne de Lure, a 13-kilometer climb.
