Jumbo-Visma was considerably weakened last weekend due to the retirement of Primoz Roglic and the hard fall of Steven Kruijswijk. Add to that the fact that Tadej Pogacar seems to have regained his confidence, and it promises to be an extremely exciting final week of the Tour. Jonas Vingegaard is firmly in the yellow jersey, but the little Dane is being hunted.
The hunting season opens today with the first of three Pyrenees stages. The departure from Carcassonne is at 12.30 pm and the winner is expected in Foix around 5 pm. In the final two nasty cols are waiting for the riders. The Port de Lers (11.4 kilometers at 7 percent) and the Mur de Péguère (9.3 kilometers at 7.9 percent) lend themselves to a guerrilla attack.
The danger could come from a relatively unexpected source. Where the teams of Pogacar and Vingegaard are battered, Ineos is still complete. This team also has three riders in the top ten of the standings. The battle for a place in the early flight is therefore extremely exciting. Which adjutants push the favorites forward?
