This is apparent from an analysis by TNO and Statistics Netherlands.
In the first quarter of 2022, there were 116,000 more employees with a permanent contract, 110,000 more flex workers and 49,000 more self-employed persons than the year before. The number of employees with a permanent contract and the self-employed continued to increase during the corona crisis, when flex workers lost their jobs en masse. There are still 17,000 fewer flex workers than before the corona crisis.
More certainty
Thanks to the shortage on the labor market, flex workers do get contracts with more security. The number of workers with a temporary contract with a view to permanent employment increased, as did the number of workers with a temporary contract with fixed hours. Compared to the previous year, there were 5% fewer people with a stand-in or on-call contract. Nevertheless, with 850,000, they still make up the largest group of flex workers. The number of temporary workers remained the same.
Due to the shortage of personnel in various sectors, applicants have a better negotiating position for a contract with more certainty. Employers also want to bind their staff with a better contract. Only in the catering industry did the number of workers with an on-call contract increase.
