A 63-year-old man has been jailed for two years for a stabbing on the street in Veghel. A 49-year-old man was injured.
At the Heilige Hartplein, the 63-year-old man stabbed the other man several times in the chest after an argument. That happened in April this year. The victim ended up in hospital with a collapsed lung.
The police arrested the 63-year-old man the same afternoon. He has been in custody ever since. The man has now been sentenced to two years in prison by the judge. The months he was already in custody will be deducted from that.
The sentence is therefore lower than demanded by the Public Prosecution Service at the end of October. The Public Prosecution Service would rather see the man go to jail for three and a half years.
