Stabbing in Cuijk shocks local residents: ‘Such sweet, helpful people’

The death of the couple in Cuijk comes completely out of the blue for local residents. Sam Bokan is visiting his mother, who lives three doors down from the place where the couple aged 73 and 75 died in a stabbing on Wednesday evening. In the neighborhood with terraced houses, the neighborhood is shocked.

Sam Bokan’s mother is well acquainted with the deceased couple. “She has been living here in the street for over twenty years. They were one of the first residents in the street, just like the people who died. My mother is in complete shock,” he says emotionally.

His mother was still in contact with the couple this week. “They were such sweet, helpful people who were there for others.” She has no idea what happened in the house. “She didn’t see this coming, it came completely out of the blue.”

“When the police turned blue here, we left our house.”

One of the direct neighbors is Mindy, she lives next to the couple. She has lived in the house for a few years and knew her neighbors from passing. “Yesterday we heard a loud bang, as if something fell. After that we heard nothing more. I was shocked when I heard that they both died.”

The immediate neighbors on the other side of the house did not hear anything on Wednesday evening. They were eating with family.

“When the police turned blue here, we left our house. We went to sleep somewhere else when we heard what had happened.” They also had little or no contact with the neighbors, no more than hello and hello in passing.

Neighbors occasionally pass by on the street. They look at the house, react shocked and wonder what happened. The terraced house where the drama took place is now guarded.

The police are investigating what happened in the house and do not want to say anything else.
