Owner Peter Holterman of grand café Bottles in Rosmalen speaks of a nightmare. In his case, a 22-year-old man died on Saturday evening who had been stabbed at De EetBar, a business opposite Bottles.
“The man came into the business via the terrace,” says Peter. “It was clearly visible that there was a lot of blood on his shirt. The man was collected at the back of the case and first aid was given.”
There also happened to be some guests with a medical background in the cafe at the time. People who work in the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch. “They helped with the provision of first aid. The emergency services were also there quickly. Two ambulances, later a trauma helicopter also arrived. Everything was done to save the man, but unfortunately that did not work.”
The owner of Bottles calls the events “very unreal”. “But I’ll be fine. I know what happened, but luckily I didn’t see anything myself. When I got here, the police kept everyone at a distance, so I wasn’t allowed in. But we also have five young employees who have received all this. We will meet in a moment, together with their parents and Victim Support. Then we will see how the flag hangs.”
Peter describes Rosmalen as a small, cozy village where these kinds of events do not normally occur. “Of course things happen sometimes, but this… this is extreme.”
