FC St. Pauli continues to dominate the 2nd league. Even on Sunday, Hamburg could not be stopped by Hertha BSC.
After two draws, Hertha BSC cannot win for the third game in a row. FC St. Pauli, on the other hand, is completely different, winning the direct duel 2-0 in the end – and extending their lead in the table over second-placed Holstein Kiel to five points.
Hamburg took the lead after just 16 minutes through Manolis Saliakas, and Marcel Hartel was able to add to that in the first half (44′). That was enough to beat the Berliners.
At St. Pauli, a lot had revolved around Hürzeler before the game. After a long poker game, the 31-year-old announced on Friday that he was extending his contract beyond the summer. Against Hertha, his team once again showed many facets of a top team.
Fürth loses clearly, Lautern wins
St. Pauli’s pursuer Greuther Fürth suffered a setback in the fight for a promotion place with a 1:4 defeat against SV Elversberg. Paul Stock was the game decider for the guests as a three-time goal scorer (25th/72nd/82nd minute). Dominik Martinovic increased the score to the final score (87th) following an assist from Stock.
For a long time it was a game of errors that the 11,651 spectators in the Fürth sports park were treated to. The highlight was the 1-1, in which Elversberg goalkeeper Nikolas Kristof shot at Dennis Srbeny, who was running from Fürth, while trying to open the game (61st minute).
The relegation clash between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and VfL Osnabrück ended 3-2. Ragnar Ache (66th, 90th + 2) and Ba-Muaka Simakala (78th) scored for FCK, which is three points clear of the relegation place thanks to the win. The Osnabrück team, who recently beat Hannover 96 and Hamburger SV, are seven points behind third-from-last Hansa Rostock. They took the lead twice through Erik Engelhardt (48th, 69th).
