St. Pauli and Werder Bremen at the FIFA 22 VBL final

The field of participants for the final tournament of the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship is taking shape: FC St. Pauli and Werder Bremen have qualified by winning the playoffs.

Bremen secured their playoff ticket by beating 1. FC Nürnberg. After a year of abstinence, Werder is playing for the championship title again. Last season, the two-time club champion missed the final event.

St. Pauli is also in the final tournament. The runner-up from Hamburg prevailed in the second Bavarian-Hanseatic duel of the day against the e-sportsmen from FC Augsburg.

“We’re just relieved,” said a grinning Kamal “Kamal” Kamboj from FC St. Pauli after the game in the VBL stream. “To come back like that after the weak first half of the season and win the playoffs to get to the Grand Final. It’s crazy.”

Away from the playoffs, RB Leipzig can celebrate the division title of the south-east relay. In the catch-up game against SC Sandhausen, the Saxons secured the top of the table ahead of FC Ingolstadt by winning the doubles game.
