Sri Lanka’s president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who resigned earlier this week, believes he has done “the maximum” to avoid the economic catastrophe plaguing his country. In all his efforts to get his country back on track, the corona pandemic proved to be the spoilsport. That is what Rajapaksa writes in his concise letter of resignation that was read in parliament on Saturday. The former president has since fled to Singapore.
