“Squid Game” becomes a reality show

Last year, “Squid Game” blossomed into the most successful Netflix series launch ever: within four weeks, the South Korean series was accessed by 142 million households. One reason for this could have been their diabolical plot. In the course of the nine episodes, 456 participants* had to compete against each other in children’s games from hell. All losers were killed; on the other hand, around 33 million euros in prize money awaited a single winner.

“There’s a lot at stake”

Under the title “Squid Game: The Challenge” the barbaric fiction should now become reality – at least in a weakened form. Although nothing is known about the actual course of the macabre competitions, at least nobody has to die: “There is a lot at stake, but the worst fate in this game is to go home empty-handed,” it says on the casting page. Although the profit of 4.35 million euros is significantly smaller than in the film template, according to Netflix there has never been a show with higher prize money.

There is only one condition for participation

The number of participants remains the same: Hundreds of participants are currently being sought for the reality format produced by the US streaming provider. English-speaking applicants from all over the world can now apply online. Filming is slated to begin next year. Only two days ago (June 13) it was also officially announced that the series, which has been viewed millions of times, is to have a second season.
