Update in the House of Lords
The German champions FC Bayern Munich is also the big loser in terms of squad value in the course of the market value update by Transfermarkt: None of the 18 Bundesliga clubs conceded a major minus. A total of ten teams experienced an increase in value, with Bayer 04 Leverkusen coached by Xabi Alonso enjoying the clearest, which secured a place in the Europa League despite a mixed season finale.

Although only five pros from the “Werkself” squad increased their market value – the biggest upgrade came from Ecuadorian central defender Piero Hincapié (+ €10m to €35m) – the sixth-placed player increased his squad value by around €15m now 437 million euros.
In the Bundesliga ranking of the most valuable teams, Leverkusen remains unchanged in fourth place. If you look at the comparison period to September 1, 2022 and the fact that Bayer – apart from Paulinho’s loan (market value at the time €7m) to Atlético Mineiro – in the winter neither recorded any valuable arrivals nor departures, the team, which was the third most valuable team at the time, still lost a place to RB Leipzig.
The Saxons, however, are back at the same level as at the end of the 2022 summer transfer window due to a squad minus of €17.1 million at the end of the season:
The value of coach Marco Rose’s team fell from €487.3 million to €470.2 million – this is due to the total of ten devaluations in the course of the update, which are offset by only three upgrades and of which national player David Raum received the highest (- 6 million to now 14 million €).

In the top 4 of the league, runners-up Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, increased again and was able to increase its squad value by €11.75 million to €555.9 million – the Westphalians have thus increased by more than 40 compared to last September million and finds itself around the level of June 2022.
The biggest plus in the current update was achieved by winger Donyell Malen, whose value went up by twelve million euros. This makes the Dutchman the second-biggest market value winner in the league after Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

Squad value FC Bayern: Goretzka and Mané big losers
However, it is not enough for the Dortmund team to compete with FC Bayern, which is still by far the most valuable team in the league despite a significant minus. In the update, the value of the Munich squad has fallen by around €70 million to €909 million – only Liverpool (-74 million) and Chelsea (-89 million) were hit harder this summer in an international comparison.
With the commitments of Yann Sommer, Daley Blind and João Cancelo, the record champions also increased their squad value in the winter, so that despite the numerous devaluations, of which national player Leon Goretzka and summer signing Sadio Mané conceded the highest with €20 million each, compared to September 1, 2022, an increase of around €62 million can still be recorded.
While next to Bayern and Leipzig, TSG Hoffenheim (-€15.8m) and relegated Hertha BSC (-€17.1m) are among the biggest losers in terms of squad value in the current update, VfL Wolfsburg is not least due to the upgrades by Micky van de Ven, Felix Nmecha and Patrick Wimmer, the second-biggest plus ahead of Union Berlin and BVB.
