SpVgg Greuther Furth with profit

Second division soccer team SpVgg Greuther Fürth closed the 2021/22 financial year with a plus. As the club announced at its general meeting, the bottom line was 5.3 million euros with a turnover of 49.1 million euros. According to the club, equity has roughly tripled compared to the previous year to 7.8 million euros.

“After the very difficult Corona years, it was an extremely important year from a financial point of view, of course supported by our participation in the 1st Bundesliga. But we have made good progress at all levels, even though we are still dealing with stronger Corona in the spectator area -Restrictions had to get by for a significant part of the season,” said managing director Holger Schwiewagner.

Heissmann presented as President

“Like everyone else, we are also struggling with inflation. Thanks to the good financial year, we were able to keep prices stable this season, but of course this will not be possible in the long term if the development continues. Nevertheless, I see ourselves as very good overall Prepared for challenges in the coming years. We were able to significantly stabilize our foundation again and we can work very positively on this for the future,” said Schwiewagner.

At the general meeting, the people of Fürth also presented the new president. The Economic Advisory Board unanimously appointed Volker Heissmann as Fred Höfler’s successor. Höfler had been president since 2018 and the resignation of long-time club boss Helmut Hack, but had already announced in the summer of this year that he no longer wanted to run for another term.

Comedian Heissmann is already familiar with the work of the committees from his time as Vice President. “We have appointed a person who does not need it, who has already achieved a lot in life, who radiates competence and composure, who lives the love of the cloverleaf and carries it deep within him,” said Lord Mayor Thomas Jung, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council.
