Belgrade (AP) – Sprinter Gina Lückenkemper was eliminated in the preliminary heat at the World Indoor Championships in athletics in Belgrade over 60 meters.
The EM second over 100 meters from 2018 ran 7.33 seconds and was only fifth in her lead. Lückenkemper thus missed progress both in terms of placement and time. After a weak start, she was three hundredths of a second short of third place, which would have meant entry into the semi-finals.
Sprint colleague Tatjana Pinto was qualified for the World Championships, but had to pull out injured. Since the former European triple jump champion Max Hess and 1500-meter runner Christoph Kessler cannot be there due to illness, only a 16-man German team will be at the start until Sunday, which at best has outsider chances.
