Spring is unprecedentedly sunny for the time being: ’20 degrees is approaching again’ | Inland

The month of March in particular was sunny, and therefore also record dry. On average, only 9 millimeters of rain fell across the country, after which April had clearly more precipitation. That even fell in snow at the beginning of the month, but after that mainly in rain. More than usual fell, the meteorologists said.

Against all the sun it means that the first half of spring was colder than average. In De Bilt it was 7.4 degrees, compared to 7.8 normal. It regularly froze at night, while it warmed up considerably during the day. “We had a few really cold days, at the beginning of March but also at the end of March, early April it was just cold. On the other hand, there are slightly warmer days and that averages out,” says Van der Linden.

hot days

April is still relatively cool with 7.5 degrees compared to 9 normal. Nevertheless, we have already noted the first national warm day, on April 12. That is not exceptional, the meteorologists emphasize. Almost every first half of spring produces a warm day. Moreover, we can look forward to more warm days, Van der Linden expects. That already starts this Easter weekend, but the expectation is also very nice after that.

“The cold weather is not coming back. It may be a little less mild than now, but for the rest of the month the temperature will be normal or slightly above normal. And then the 20 degrees, certainly at the end of April, will soon come into view again,” said the meteorologist of Weeronline. In terms of precipitation, we can count on a normal second half of spring. That means it will often be dry, with some showers and a single gray day with rain.

rub

For those who have become used to the sun, Weer.nl has another urgent advice: apply yourself well if you are outside a lot. That advice certainly applies between 12:00 and 15:00. In the coming days, the UV index will be 4 in clear weather. This means that your skin can burn on average after half an hour in the sun without protection, says the weather agency. After the winter season, the skin is also not used to much.

“A little UV radiation from the sun is good for you, for the production of vitamin D, but too much is not wise. In addition to burning (and aging) your skin, too much UV radiation is also bad for your eyes and is the main cause of skin cancer,” Weer.nl warns.

Smog

People with lung or cardiovascular diseases should also pay attention. According to the RIVM, it is better not to do heavy physical exertion this weekend, because of expected smog. Due to the Easter fires in Germany and the east of the Netherlands, there is a chance of smog due to particulate matter this weekend. Due to the calm spring weather and the easterly wind, the particulate matter can spread throughout the Netherlands.
