Spotify: Private playlists can suddenly be public

Users complain: Playlists that shouldn’t be visible to everyone are now.

There are said to have been incidents as early as March, and now Spotify users are increasingly complaining on social media platforms that their private Spotify playlists were made public by the streaming service without their doing anything.

William Devereux, project manager of “Microsoft Edge”, also tweeted that he had to realize that his compiled songs were being made visible involuntarily. The same would have happened to his wife without either of them having changed the private settings in the app. Now he accuses Spotify of violating privacy.

Devereux asked the community if they could report something similar, and numerous replies poured in from Spotify users whose private playlists were suddenly visible to the public. Although this type of news was already circulating in March 2023, Spotify has not yet commented on the subject. A change in user settings was not announced. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look at the Spotify playlist interface itself.
