Music streaming giant Spotify has announced it will close its Moscow office due to the war started by Russia, reports Variety.

Spotify had just opened a new office in Moscow Russian law due to the fact that technology companies with more than 500,000 users will have to set up an office in the country by 2022. This is such a recent law that not all of the giants have even had time to react.

Spotify has also announced that it will pull off Kremlin-funded RT and Sputk news channels. These channels have been widely described as acting as propaganda tools for Russia.

Some services have also begun to limit the visibility of these players on their platforms, and Apple and Google have removed these media apps from their app stores.

According to Spotify, users in Russia can still use Spotify.

“We think it is very important to try to keep our service operating in Russia to enable the global flow of information,” Variety was told about Spotify’s information.
