Spotify, Instagram, Youtube, sales: This is how Rammstein benefit from the scandal

Since the allegations of abuse against Till Lindemann became known, Rammstein has reported increased popularity on various platforms. Surveys of the “business week” result. Neither the increasing number of alleged victims, nor the public prosecutor’s investigations have led to a decrease in interest in the band – this is also understandable, since an increased number of Instagram followers and Spotify playbacks can reflect that many people are due to the alleged incidents, they are now dealing more intensively with Rammstein, their music and their lyrics.

According to the “Likeometer” quoted by the magazine, the band has gained almost 60,000 new followers on Instagram since the end of May, shortly before the allegations became known: an increase of more than two percent in two weeks. Rammstein is also successful on YouTube: ninth place among subscribers, the videos have an average of four million views every day.

According to “Wirtschaftswoche”, Rammstein is more popular than ever on Spotify: around 11.8 million listeners in the past 30 days. Before that, this figure would never have exceeded eleven million.

The magazine also estimated the band’s earnings since early 2022, based on a survey by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (ifpi) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). According to this, the six Rammsteiners have earned 24.9 million with their music since the beginning of 2022. Broken down: 15 million from ticket sales, 1.5 million from album sales, 1.2 million from YouTube, 3.2 million from music streaming, and 2 million each from merchandise and licenses. How much of it gets stuck with the band can only be roughly estimated.
