Life goes its own way: synchronized swimmer Beatriz Feres also had this experience. She unexpectedly became a mother again.
Nine years ago, Brazilian synchronized swimmer Beatriz Feres took part in the Olympic Games in Rio. Now the Brazilian is sharing her private happiness. The 37-year-old is already a mother of two and was now happy about her third child: her son Ricardo saw the light of day. But the athlete actually didn’t want to become a mother again and used the IUD as contraception – but things turned out surprisingly differently.
Feres shared a series of photos on Instagram. In the first snapshot, she can be seen beaming in the hospital bed with her newborn son. While Feres holds the baby on her chest and smiles at the camera, the father leans over her with a smile and lovingly places a hand on the synchronized swimmer’s shoulder.
In another picture, the baby can be seen holding the coil that Feres actually used for contraception. She wrote: “I became pregnant despite having an IUD, which came as a complete surprise, and found out about the pregnancy the day I took my mother to the hospital, who was already in the final stages of her battle with cancer. She died eight days later. And in the midst of this immense pain, this baby remained.”
Her son is her reminder that life goes on. She also said emotionally: “He gave me strength when I had no more, he gave me hope when everything hurt. He was and is my gift and also that of my mother. The hug that she left me before she left.”
Ricardo was born just after midnight on December 7th. “When they put him in my arms, I just thought, ‘Thanks, Mom.’ For continuing to take care of me through him,” said Feres, who concluded with the words: “You are love, you are light and you are the most beautiful proof that life always finds a way to begin again.”
