Sports shoe with upcycling designer Nicole McLaughlin

Running shoe specialist Hoka has revealed details of its new partnership with designer Nicole McLaughlin.

The collaboration between the sporting goods supplier, which belongs to the US group Deckers Brands, and the New York upcycling fashion designer, which was announced in November, resulted in a special version of the trail running shoe ‘Mafate Three2’, Hoka announced on Tuesday. The newly designed shoe offers dirt and water-repellent properties, simplified lacing and utility pockets. Due to its special design, it should not only be used in sports, but also in combination with streetwear outfits.

“Working with Hoka allowed me to delve deeply into multifunctional design, and the Mafate Three2 hybrid was the perfect canvas for me,” says McLaughlin, who shot a complementary photography campaign to accompany the product itself.

Product Director of Lifestyle Footwear at Hoka, Travis Wiseman, also adds: “This partnership specifically brings together the technical features of our latest trail shoe – the Mafate Three2 – and seamlessly combines them with Nicole’s exceptional design approach.”
