Sports reporter Richard Walraven in De Aftrap about tackling supporters: “It’s good that we are sending out a signal”

The misconduct of football fans is one hot topic today in football talk show De Aftrap. Not just because of the Ajax – Feyenoord tie. A large number of football matches had to be (temporarily) stopped in the past period. Sports reporter Richard Walraven of the Noordhollands Dagblad (NHD) and press officer Sonny Sier of FC Volendam applaud the fact that something is finally happening. “It is good that we are sending a signal: we will not accept this.”

It also happened at FC Volendam the last home game not good. After the home team had made it 2-2 against Heracles Almelo, some plastic cups flew from the stands towards the field. The KNVB protocol requires the referee to temporarily stop the match and visit the changing rooms with the players. In the meantime, the club must track down the perpetrator and evict the stadium.

After the incident, Volendam set up a net in front of the stands in question to prevent things from happening again. “You want to give supporters the best possible view of the field,” Sier explains why Volendam had not done that from the start. “You want to give supporters the opportunity to do well. Of those roughly two thousand people, two throw something.”

Walraven understands that the KNVB has been heavily involved for some time now. “The way things went a year ago was really terrible with lighters, coins and those beer showers. Suppose you are the photographer behind that goal and you come home completely soaking wet with your equipment to hell… Would you like that? ?”

Everyone agrees that the consequences for a large group of well-intentioned people are far-reaching. Sier: “I think it’s good that people are now addressing each other about their behavior. I just wonder whether you should cancel a match so hard.”

“At a certain point it’s time to dig in the sand and go this far and no further. I don’t just have the solution up my sleeve, but I think it’s good that something is happening. There are standards of decency. You either do things or you don’t. they don’t,” said Walraven.

Ajax – AZ

Naturally, De Aftrap also discusses the docusoap that was made last year about FC Volendam and the North Holland derby Ajax – AZ next Sunday. And for the weekly Kratje Trap section, Erik-Jan Brinkman is in Assendelft with the second Saturday team of SVA. Traditionally, we conclude with two changes in our FC De Aftrap team.

You can watch De Afkick every Friday from 5:10 PM on TV on NH Sport. This is followed by repetition every hour.
