The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is apparently looking for a viable way for the possible return of the exiled Russian and Belarusian athletes.

“We know that the IOC is considering whether there is a way back for Russian athletes”said Susanne Lyonsthe Chair of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC).

DOSB confirms discussion

“They are starting to reach out to all their stakeholders, including the NOCs, the international federations, for input on this issue, so I don’t think any decisions have been made yet”Lyons commented: “But I think we all feel at some point that individual athletes shouldn’t be the victims of their respective governments, political or other tensions around the world.”

When asked by SID, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) confirmed the inclusion of the discussion. “The issue was the subject of a call between the IOC and the National Olympic Committees”a spokesman explained: “For the DOSB, its position from February, which calls for the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian officials and athletes, currently applies.” However, watch them “sports policy discussion attentive”.

IOC speaks of a dilemma

At the request of the industry portal “insidethegames” the IOC explained that the sanctions as a result of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine “remain in force for the time being”. At the same time, however, the IOC emphasized that it “increase its efforts” going to get out of the “The Dilemma We Are In” to come out “The Olympic Movement is united in its mission to bring together the athletes of all National Olympic Committees and Member Federations of International Federations in peaceful competition”let the IOC know.
