The new season in Formula 1 started with the Ferrari wind.
Charles Leclerc, who started the race in Bahrain from pole position, came first and Carlos Sainz came second. It was Ferrari’s first double since the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix.

“The last two seasons have been very difficult for the team. We knew that the new era would give us the advantage. The team created a great car. We started the season in the best way possible.”
Mercedes’ 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton took the third step of the podium in Bahrain. George Russell, who started his first season in the German team, finished 4th.
Last champion Max Verstappen struggled for the top spot throughout the race, but was unable to see the checkered flag due to a malfunction. Other Red Bull driver Sergio Perez was unable to finish the race with a similar problem.
LECLERC’S JOKE
The message sent by the 24-year-old driver on the last lap made the engineers of the Italian team sweat. Speaking at the post-race press conference, Leclerc said: “On the last lap, I made a little joke saying that there was something strange with the engine. Some engineers were having a heart attack.” said.
SURPRISE IN BAHYREN
The new rules brought surprise performances. Haas drivers Kevin Magnussen finished 5th and Mick Schumacher 10th. Haas finished last season with no points in the constructors’ standings.
The second race of the season in Formula 1, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, will be held on 27 March.
