At the end of the 29th week of the North Macedonian 1st League (Prva Macedonia Fudbaska Liga), FC Shkupi, which beat its closest follower Akademija Pandev by 13 points, declared the championship four weeks before the end of the league. The fact that FC Shkupi became the champion in the league with weeks before the end made happy football fans who love blue and white colors all over the country, especially in the capital Skopje. FC Shkupi will represent North Macedonia in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Having been the owner of FC Shkupi Club since 2020, Olgun Aydın stated that they spent a lot of effort for success and said, “We have taken our first step to create a big club in Europe. FC Shkupi is actually the continuation of Zaferspor, which was founded by the Turks in 1922-1923. It is of particular importance for us that this club, which was founded 100 years ago by the Turks, is holding the championship title again under the leadership of the Turks 100 years later. We are making waves abroad,” he said. Aydın will also be the first Turkish president to join the UEFA Champions League with a foreign team.
