The Sports Festival, having broken the ice with the opening day (full squares, sold out halls and theaters) is ready to take off.
What a trio
—
Today’s schedule also promises excitement. With football raising its voice. At 2pm (Philharmonic), drum roll for Bebeto, one of the strongest strikers in history. The Brazilian was among the supporters of the Selecao’s success in the 1994 USA World Cup, but his legend goes far beyond that triumph. No less important is the event with David Trezeguet (at 3.30pm at the Santa Chiara Auditorium), world champion with France (in France) at 20 years old and then a Juventus legend. Also linked to current events will be the talk with Patrick Vieira (at 6pm, again at Santa Chiara), another 1998 world champion and now coach of Genoa.
Snow and ice
—
This year the Festival cannot help but be closely linked to the Milan Cortina Olympics, starting in less than four months. Therefore, there are many relative moments. Today, at 11.30, at the Teatro Sociale, “I nostri Giochi” will be attended by Giovanni Malagò and Andrea Varnier, president and CEO of the Foundation, as well as the most prestigious athletes of the winter disciplines of yesterday and today such as Carolina Kostner (figure), Giuliano Razzoli (alpine skiing), Enrico Fabris (long track), Silvio Fauner (cross-country skiing) and Giacomo Bertagnolli (paralympic alpine skiing). We will take stock in terms of organization and expectations. Great anticipation, then, for the meetings with Alberto Tomba (at 9pm at the Santa Chiara), with the unforgettable Franz Klammer (at 6.30pm at the Filarmonica) and with Daniela Ceccarelli and Lara Colturi, mother and daughter (at 6pm at the Palazzo della Regione). Moving on to narrow skis, spotlights on Pietro Piller Cottrer, Fabio Valbusa and Cristian Zorzi (at 10am at the Filarmonica). And for snowboarding Michela Moioli and Maurizio Bormolini (2.30 pm at Palazzo Geremia). For the ice (6.30 pm, same place) Davide Ghiotto, Mattia Giovanella and Daniel Grassl.
Two wheels
—
Cycling and the Giro d’Italia cannot be missed: at 10.30, at the Palazzo della Regione, Urbano Cairo, president and CEO of RCS Mediagroup, will host. In the same venue, at 4pm, confrontation between Jonathan Milan and Ale Petacchi and, at 8pm, between Francesco Moser and Giovanni Battaglin.
