Los Angeles Lakers and threatens to miss NBA playoffs
08:03 a.m.: The Los Angeles Lakers basketball players risk missing the playoffs in the NBA. The loss to Denver Nuggets 129-118 put the multiple champion in further trouble. The team has to win almost all of the remaining games in the regular season to have a chance of making it to the postseason, in which they compete for the championship.
The Lakers played against the Nuggets without star LeBron James, who injured his ankle. Anthony Davies (28 points) and Russell Westbrook (27 points) did everything they could to avert defeat, but with Nikola Jokic, the Denver squad had a sharpshooter in the house. He made 38 points.
Phoenix Suns suffered a rare defeat. The western division leader lost 117-96 to Oklahoma City Thunder. The Miami Heat cemented its lead in the Eastern Division with a 114-109 win over the Toronto Raptors. The Philadelphia 76ers, already certain of the playoffs, defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-108. Joel Embiid scored 44 points for the ‘Sixers’.
