FSV record access
It had been there for a long time, but now it’s official: central defender Jeremiah St. Juste is leaving 1. FSV Mainz 05 and joining Sporting Lisbon. The 25-year-old Dutchman will receive a contract until 2026 from the Portuguese top club, which announced the transfer as well as the Bundesliga club on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the transfer fee including bonuses is more than 10 million euros. Should an interested club want to sever St. Juste from Sporting before the end of his contract, he would have to dig much deeper into his wallet: the release clause set the 2021 champion, who was dethroned by FC Porto this season, at 45 million euros. Most recently, St. Juste was released from training to travel to Lisbon and finalize his transfer.

“Jeremiah approached us with the desire to join Sporting Lisbon because he wanted to make the step into international business. We understood that. But it was also important for us that we were able to conclude a transfer agreement with Sporting that corresponds to our economic expectations,” said Mainz sports director Christian Heidel.
St. Juste, who came to FSV from Feyenoord for 8 million euros in 2019 and has been Rheinhessen’s record signing since then, has played an important role for three years, says Heidel, “even if he’s only played a few games this season due to injury The man from Groningen played 69 times for Mainz (3 goals/3 assists). In the ranking of the most expensive departures, he is in tenth place alongside Ridle Baku (24).
