Sports director Igli Tare is leaving the Italian first division soccer team Lazio Rome after 18 years.
“I’ve made this decision for a long time, but I’ve been waiting for Lazio to climb into the Champions League, knowing that we’ve built a strong team with exceptional players,” said the Albanian-born professional played for 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Düsseldorf from 1992 to 2000 in Germany.
“It was a long and intense adventure with many joys and defeats. I will always be grateful to the club for that,” Tare said in an interview with “Rai 1”.
Differences with club boss Claudio Lotito about the future of the club and the signing of new players are said to have made Tare say goodbye to the runners-up, Italian media reported. The 49-year-old gave no information about his future plans.
