Sport without sweat? New material technology from Nike should make it possible

Nike declares war on sweat during sports. The US sporting goods manufacturer’s new Stealth Evaporation technology is designed to help both absorb and conceal sweat, Nike said last week.

Stealth Evaporation technology combines water-repellent yarn and water-absorbent yarn with a middle layer of elastane. The material mix wicks moisture away from the skin and forms a water-repellent barrier through which sweat does not show through, meaning that sweat stains do not appear.

“Nike is committed to supporting all athletes in every moment, and we know that some people wear their sweat as a badge of honor, while others don’t want to be distracted by sweat stains when they’re in the gym or on the go,” says Tania Flynn, Vice President of Nike Women’s Apparel. “Using sweat-wicking Stealth Evaporation technology, we’ve created garments that you can wear all day comfortably and with confidence.”

The technology is currently being used in two tops – a long-sleeved shirt and a top. The two pieces of clothing from the “Nike Dri-FIT Stealth Evaporation City Ready” line for women are now available in the sporting goods manufacturer’s online shop and in specialist shops.
