Talip Çankırı was elected as the chairman of the Genclerbirligi Club Extraordinary General Assembly.
Niyazi Akdaş, the current president, was not nominated in the general assembly held at the Halil Rıfat Pasha Conference Hall in the General Directorate of Turkish Highways.
Talip Çankırı and Arda Çakmak competed for the chairmanship of the general assembly. Talip Çankırı, who won 243 of the 409 games, became the new president of the red-black club, while Arda Çakmak had 158 votes.
Çankırı, in his speech at the general assembly, stated that he has been in the management of Gençlerbirliği in different periods since 2004, “My priority will be infrastructure. The real ultimate goal is football high school.” used the phrases.
“Genclerbirligi is not a team that will go to the trustee and be left unattended.” Çankırı said:
“There would be no presidential candidacy in a place where Niyazi president was. I sincerely believe that we will.”
Underlining that they will work to lift the transfer ban first, Çankırı said, “We know that the most important issue is the lifting of the transfer ban. We received verbal support in our meetings yesterday. We hope to open the board as soon as possible.” he said.
Niyazi Akdaş, who was not a presidential candidate in the election, stated that there were three candidates for incorporation before, but they gave up, “Therefore, I wanted to hold this general assembly.” said.
Saying that more than 40 million liras is needed for the transfer ban to remain, Akdaş emphasized that he is not in favor of selling real estate. Akdaş, “They are measures for the dark days of Gençlerbirliği. I did not make these debts. I closed the debt of 37 million liras of the former administration. I believe that the salvation of this club passes through incorporation.” made its assessment.
Akdaş noted that they negotiated with Söğüt İnşaat not for the sale of the club, but for Hacettepe to play in the 2nd league. Niyazi Akdaş, whose eyes filled with tears towards the end of his speech, said, “The presidency of Gençlerbirliği has been the most honorable job I have ever done.” he concluded his speech.
