Belgian leader Union also beats Anderlecht
3:48 pm: The surprising Belgian leader Union also won the home match against Anderlecht (1-0). The home team, with former Feyenoord player Bart Nieuwkoop in the base, did not have the best of the game, but an early goal from the Dane Casper Nielsen turned out to be enough for another victory. As a result, Union remains well at the top, now 12 points ahead of Club Brugge. Anderlecht are fourth on 15 points.
Nielsen shot from just outside the box in the 11th minute. The ball was touched on the way and fell in. In the rest of the first half, Anderlecht became more dangerous, through Joshua Zirkzee, among others. The attempt by the 20-year-old Dutch striker could easily be caught by the Union keeper. At Anderlecht there were also basic places for Wesley Hoedt and Ajax mercenary Lisandro Magallán.
Union became more dangerous after the break and hit the crossbar, but no more goals were scored. Club Brugge, the team of trainer Alfred Schreuder, will play against Kortrijk on Sunday evening.
Paris SG defender Ramos may miss a reunion with Real Madrid
3:27 p.m.: Paris Saint-Germain’s Spanish defender Sergio Ramos may miss seeing his former club Real Madrid in the Champions League again. The 35-year-old veteran has suffered from a muscle injury in his right calf, according to his French club. For the time being, it seems that it is a minor injury, according to PSG.
“We look at it day by day. We can’t say yet how long he will be sidelined and when he can start training and playing again,” said coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Ramos will miss the cup match against Nice on Monday anyway. On February 15, the home game against Real Madrid in the eighth finals of the Champions League awaits. Ramos played for the ‘Royal’ for 16 years before transferring to PSG last summer on a free transfer.
The Spanish international has played little at his new club so far. Due to a series of injuries, he only appeared in five games.
