Sport 2000: Outdoor segment remains on course for growth

The trading association Sport 2000 GmbH was able to further increase its external sales in the outdoor category in the current 2023 financial year. The corresponding revenues reached a level of 381 million euros in the first five months of the year and thus exceeded the corresponding previous year’s level by 1.5 percent, the company, which belongs to the ANWR Group, announced on Monday.

Tim Wahnel, head of the outdoor division at Sport 2000, was satisfied with the latest development: “The demand at the POS is unbroken and outdoor is still in demand. We can confirm this trend,” he said in a statement. The retail trade is “struggling with major challenges such as increased costs and extreme inventories”, but is “still optimistic that the outdoor experience area can continue to count on a solid demand situation”, says Wahnel.

With renewed growth, the trade association continued the record year of 2022, in which total external sales increased to around 3.3 billion euros. The outdoor area has “reached a new record value of almost one billion euros,” the company said.

“In 2022 we also achieved record results in the outdoor segment. In this respect, we are pleased that with 381 million euros in outdoor outdoor sales in the first five months of 2023, we are even slightly above the high level of the same period last year,” emphasized Sport 2000 Managing Director Dominik Solleder in a statement.
