The SPORT 2000 Running Division implemented the “Expert Running Advice” training event for the first time. The aim of the event was to make good salespeople even better, to give them new impetus and to deepen their specialist knowledge.
16 participants came to Düsseldorf at the end of March. These include Running Experts (former running pros), ABSOLUTE RUN partners and RunClub participants (generalists).
On the first day, the group focused primarily on topics from the field of anatomy and biomechanics with a part on typical running injuries and practical examples. The second day was all about sales training. Above all, the focus was on the question of what distinguishes a good sales consultant today. In addition, the current challenges of the stationary running trade were discussed and strategies were explained to win the competition for the sales outlet. In this context, answers to the general decline in frequency, recommendation management and dealing with price issues were discussed in particular.
Speakers for the two days were Currex, with Christoph Baltzley (trained physiotherapist) and Sebastian Köpper (sports scientist) as well as Udo Kithier, a freelance sales trainer with a high affinity for running and many years of professional experience as a speaker.
The feedback from the participants was very good: “We particularly liked the exchange between colleagues on an equal footing to find out how the current topics are implemented by other running experts – especially after Covid, that was particularly valuable. I really appreciated the quality of the speakers and their repertoire and methods,” was the feedback from Gerd Uhren from ABSOLUTE RUN in Bonn.
SPORT 2000 would like to repeat the event in autumn. “The qualification of the staff is essential for the success of our partners and is an important lever for generating lasting sales growth,” says Christoph Görner, Retail Manager of the Running Division. His colleague Melanie Maicher, who as project manager is responsible for the training content of the Running Division, adds: “Such an event also strengthens the motivation as well as the employee’s bond and identification with the company”.
Employees from the following companies were there: Laufsport Saukel, Orthopädie- Schuhtechnik Asendorf, Bunert Duisburg, ABSOLUTE RUN from Bonn and Minden, Lauf-bar Munich, City Sport Freiburg, Active Sportsshop Münster and Active Sport Bielefeld, Sport Klahsen, Sport Sohn from Ulm, Sport Böckmann, CITY SPORT Trier and E-Xplosion from Pforzheim.
