The sports retail association Sport 2000 set new records in the past financial year. “Both the invoiced purchasing volume and the external sales of the affiliated partner companies have brought Sport 2000 the best result in the company’s history in Germany in 2021,” the company announced on Tuesday. Thanks to the significant growth, “the position already taken in 2019 as the clear number 1 of the sports associations in Germany” was defended, according to a statement.
According to the company, centrally regulated sales amounted to 1.04 billion euros, an increase of 7.2 percent compared to 2020. The external sales of the affiliated partner companies even improved by 29 percent and reached a level of 2.77 billion euros. The network currently includes 974 specialist dealers with a total of 1,527 sales outlets.
The outgoing managing director, Hans-Hermann Deters, saw the renewed record figures as proof of the success of the group’s long-term strategy: “We opposed this trend and new ones very early on – when the commercial structure dynamics were already in full swing with the melting away of medium-sized trading companies across all sectors Identified potential, especially in specialized sports retail and digital sports retail,” he said in a statement. “Our strategy of offering tailor-made and individual services to the different retail formats and specialization concepts has convinced many sports retailers and contributed to our strong growth.”
