Splinter Chabot causes an astonishing amount of zappers. He has received the most coveted time slot from NPO 1, namely directly after De Slimste Mens, but does not live up to expectations.
It seems that Splinter Chabot has been lifted onto the main stage just a little too early, because his Ivo Niehe-esque personality show Splinter Invited is anything but a hit. In fact, he really causes an astonishing number of zappers on NPO 1, no fewer than 1.6 million yesterday.
Lots of zappers
Immediately after the Achuurjournaal and De Slimste Mens, both good for 2.3 million viewers (45 and 43 percent), the NPO 1 viewer zapped away en masse. Splinter was left with only 664 thousand (16 percent), an extreme setback. No less than 71 percent of viewers dropped out when Bart Chabot’s son appeared on screen.
Televizier journalist Jef Willemsen is not surprised: “If the most striking thing in Splinter Invited are jackets, you may have to conclude that an unscripted series of reports about society parties on primetime NPO 1 is a bit too early. It’s no shame, Gert-Jan Dröge was already approaching 50 when he started Glamourland.”
Tyle disappoints
NPO 1 was lord and master at prime time. The silver is for RTL 4, but the commercial channel follows well behind. The station attracted 605 thousand viewers (13 percent) with De TV Kijker van het Jaar, a show with Tijl Beckand and Luuk Ikink. That’s definitely not fat.
The commercial competitor SBS 6 managed to captivate 502 thousand viewers (11 percent) with the Quiz of the Year, also not a top score.
Top 2000 a gogo
Not only De Slimste Mens, but also the Top 2000 a gogo has moved to the main stage of NPO 1. Just like the premiere episode, the second episode also attracted more than a million viewers yesterday.
The Top 2000 a gogo came out on the late evening at 1.1 million viewers (31 percent). These scores will be painful for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk: he does not seem to be missed at all as a presenter.
