For its 25th birthday, Germany’s largest hip-hop festival had surprises in store for its guests. The highlights.
It was 1998 when hip-hop fans in a Chemnitz youth club saw the splash! festival together. Last weekend, from June 29 to July 1, 2023, Germany’s largest music festival for rap, R’n’B and everything that goes with it celebrated its 25th birthday. How appropriate as hip-hop culture itself celebrates its 50th anniversary. In great weather, 30,000 visitors danced in Ferropolis in Saxony-Anhalt.
The festival invited everyone from national and international hip hop to the celebration. And there were also some surprising acts. Also present: Kendrick Lamar, Peter Fox as the secret headliner, Ken Carson and even Otto Waalkes.
In 2024 the splash! by the way from July 4th to 6th again in Ferropolis. Maps are not yet available.

For another birthday surprise on the splash! In 2023, Ski Aggu was responsible. The Berlin rapper brought the comedy legend Otto Waalkes on stage, who performed the hit song “Friesenjung” together with Aggu on stage.
Newcomer GloRilla rocked the main stage on Thursday.
Haiyti from Hamburg was also at the start.
At the splash! Beach provided the right mood for R&B singer Eli Preiss.
