Director Steven Spielberg initially thought that the world famous theme song that John Williams made for his movie Jaws was a joke when Williams first played the song on him. “He had a great sense of humor and I thought he misled me,” said the director.
“I was expecting to hear something weird and melodic, something tonal, but creepy,” Spielberg said in a video that was just released. The Hollywood Reporter has been rediscovered. “Something from another world.”
“What he played with me instead, with two fingers on the lower keys,” he says. “At first I started laughing.” But after playing a few times, Spielberg knew it was a good song. “I think the song was half of the success of the film.”
Jaws went on to win three Oscars in 1976, including Best Music. This is why it is such a good movie.
