Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse (Part One)

**** Four stars

The previous animated Spider-man definitively renewed the way of making animated films by combining the poetics and design of two dimensions, the incorporation of elements from the comic itself and 3D technology. That is no longer surprising in this sequel (or the first part of a sequel), but the fact that this series recovers many of the meanings of the comic, starting with its cartoon nature, is. That is what makes this film something special, which also puts
question that new geite of the “multiverses”, which are practically used for anything.
As you can imagine, there is a threat that can end everything and here goes Miles Morales, a reluctant hero (like any hero) to solve it, while -in addition- dealing with his own person.
But that’s almost the least of it: what matters is the unbridled creativity, typical of the heroic stage of cartoons, to create images, to make an impact with movement beyond the senses, to create repeated moments of humor that can go unnoticed at first glance. And that in the midst of all this we still care about the characters themselves -them, their conflicts, their little dramas, their little emotional victories- make the film an example that only by unleashing the imagination can good films be achieved.
