The monthly payroll the contributory benefits of the Social Security stood at 10,745.4 million euros in January, 6.5% more than the same month last year, according to figures provided this Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
In a statement, Inclusion warns that in the year-on-year comparison it must be taken into account that the payroll for January 2021 is not updated with the deviation of the CPI, so that in homogeneous terms the payroll increase would be 4.8%.
Also, remember that the amount distributed in January includes the revaluation of 2.5% of pensions (3% for the minimum and non-contributory), after having applied the mechanism agreed with the social agents and approved at the end of 2021.
Specific, the increase for 2022 is the result of the average consumer price index (CPI) between December 2020 and November 2021 and it is the same for passive class pensioners.
On the other hand, in the second half of January, pensioners and beneficiaries of the minimum vital income (IMV) have received a compensatory payment for the revaluation of 2021, which was lower than the registered CPI.
The expense of retirement pensions grows by 7.06%
72.2% of this pension payroll, 7,758.14 million euros, was used to pay the retirement pensions, an amount that has risen 7.06% in the last twelve months, while 1,825 million were dedicated to widowhood pensions, 5.43% more than in January 2021.
Social Security points out that spending on pensions stands at 12% of gross domestic product (GDP).
Of the 9,922,051 contributory pensions paid in January, 1.13% more than in the same month of 2021, 6,226,951 are for retirement, 2,357,080 for widows, 952,322 for permanent disability, 341,417 for orphans and 44,281 for of relatives.
The average pension of the system amounted to 1,082.98 euros per month with an increase of 5.33%, while the average retirement pension was 1,245.90 euros, 5.40% more than a year earlier.
As for the average widow’s pension, it was 774.26 euros per month, an increase of 5.11%.
The amount of new retirement registrations, with December data, was 1,373.80 euros per month.
On the other hand, and dated January 1, 136,276 pensions received the gender gap supplement, of which 94.48% were women and the average monthly amount of this pension supplement is 62.43 euros.
This gap supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount of 28 euros per month per child, which is applied from the first child and up to a maximum of four.
