The Dutch skaters, led by the Limburg national team coach Jan Coopmans, have extended their world title in the team sprint.

Dione Voskamp, ​​Jutta Leerdam and Femke Kok achieved a time of 1.27.42 in the Vikingskipet in Hamar. This made them faster than the skaters from Poland (1.29.09). The Norwegian skaters finished third and last.

Third time
It is the third time that there is a battle for the world title in the team sprint. Leerdam, who became world sprint champion the day before, was part of all three gold teams. Kok was also in the team that became world champion in the team sprint in 2020.

The number two of the 2020 World Cup, Russia, was missing in Norway. Skaters from Russia and Belarus are not allowed to start because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The skaters could not win a third title in the team sprint. Merijn Scheperkamp, ​​Kai Verbij and Thomas Krol achieved a time of 1.20.81. They finished third. The title went to Norway, which, with Björn Magnussen, Henrik Fagerli Rukke and Havard Lorentzen, overtook Poland in the third stage in 1.20.01. The Polish skaters were slightly faster than the Netherlands with 1.20.80.

The Dutch team had only received a starting ticket for the men’s team sprint at the last minute. The Dutch sprinters had not qualified for this part at the World Cup competitions, but could still participate in the tournament due to a cancellation from another country.
