The Belgian MEPs reacted mixed to the State of the Union, the policy speech of Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Tackling the energy crisis was given a central place in the speech, but according to the N-VA, the European Union “fails in its duty to protect its citizens and economy”. Groen is satisfied that the excess profits of energy companies are ‘finally’ being tackled and that the Commission is focusing on the Green Deal.
