Speculations about Zoff in the management team

A resounding victory against 1. FC Köln, a draw against VfL Bochum and another point shared with newly promoted 1. FC Heidenheim: Borussia Dortmund’s start to the new Bundesliga season is close to a debacle. It’s no wonder that BVB’s management team isn’t exactly all sunshine and roses.

While managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke is said to be firmly behind coach Edin Terzic despite the sobering start to the season, the club boss’s relationship with Sebastian Kehl could “be better” according to “WAZ”.

“We will use the international break to go into the analysis. We’ll do that internally, not in public. Of course I’ll talk to the coach and the sporting director, they’re the top priority now,” said Watzke on Sunday in the Conversation with the “Ruhr Nachrichten” explained.

“It’s inexplicable for all of us,” said Kehl after the 2-2 win over Heidenheim, in which BVB inexplicably lost a 2-0 lead in front of their home crowd.

Terzic also chose clear words and sounded the alarm: “That doesn’t happen to a top team. We have the game under control and are giving it up again. If we don’t stop it, it will be very difficult to celebrate something at some point.”

Only success can calm things down at BVB

The fact that things are anything but smooth is probably also due to the composition of the squad, the main construction site in Kehl.

Even after the end of the changeover period, BVB is rather thin on the defensive, the departures of top scorers Jude Bellingham and Raphael Guerreiro were only partially compensated. A circumstance that is said to have caused the house blessing to go wrong.

“Sport1” goes even further than the “WAZ” and suspects that the situation at BVB is “toxic and highly explosive”. The past summer transfer period revealed “atmospheric disturbances” between Watzke, Kehl and Terzic.

The only thing that can smooth the waves again is probably success. When it comes to SC Freiburg (September 16) after the international break and Paris Saint-Germain (September 19) in the Champions League, the pressure on BVB should be enormous.
