The number of unaccompanied minors applying for asylum in our country has risen sharply in 2021. This is apparent from figures that Freddy Roosemont, the top man of the Immigration Department, gave during a hearing in the House. The “spectacular increase” according to Roosemont is mainly the result of a rising number of young Afghan asylum seekers in our country, he said.
