Life-threatening incidents involving confused people are increasing at a rapid pace. Arrest teams from the Special Interventions Service (DSI) of the police were twice as likely to attack confused persons in 2021 as in the previous year. The management of the service calls the significant increase worrying.
In 2021, there were more than 130,177 incidents involving confused people in which the police had to intervene. An arrest team is only dispatched in the event of a truly life-threatening situation. That happened 125 times last year.
