BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – SPD leader Lars Klingbeil called for cooperation in the traffic light coalition in Berlin after the state elections in Lower Saxony. He spoke of turbulent times on Sunday evening on ARD. “I don’t think there has ever been a government that has had to deal with so many crises.” You can do it well, and that’s the common spirit, Klingbeil said. “More together, less against each other, that’s how we do it well in traffic lights now. The expectations are high and we have to meet them.”

According to the projections, the SPD emerged victorious from the state elections with more than 33 percent of the votes, but had to accept a noticeable loss of votes (2017: 36.9). The traffic light partner FDP had to worry about re-entering the state parliament with 5 percent in the evening (2017: 7.5). The Greens improved significantly from 8.7 to around 14 percent./jr/DP/he
