The Spanish truck driver who caused a fatal accident in Nieuw-Beijerland at the end of August remains at large. The Court of Appeal in The Hague has decided that the man does not have to go back to jail, provided he adheres to various conditions. Those conditions mean, among other things, that the man must cooperate in everything surrounding this case and must appear at the substantive session of his criminal case.
The chamber of the court had previously decided to release the 45-year-old driver, but the Public Prosecution Service appealed this decision. According to the court, the Public Prosecution Service did not oppose this new decision.
Six adults, including a heavily pregnant woman, were killed in the drama at a neighborhood party in Nieuw-Beijerland, bringing the death toll to seven.
