37-year-old Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, who has won the Indian Wells title three times to date, announced his withdrawal from the tournament.
Nadal said in a statement on his social media account: “I am deeply saddened to have to withdraw from this magnificent tournament.” said.
Stating that he made a great effort to return to the courts, the Spanish racket said, “I took a test at the weekend, but I did not find myself ready to play in such an important tournament. This is not an easy decision, but I cannot lie to myself and my fans.” he said.
Nadal is expected to compete at the Monte Carlo Masters next month, where he is an 11-time champion.
