Spanish Ryanair cabin crew announce new strikes | Abroad

The USO and SICTPLA unions announced the extra strike days on Saturday, just as a previously announced strike period at Ryanair was coming to an end. Since Thursday, there has already been campaigning by crew stationed in Spain. On Saturday, the strike led to the cancellation of approximately ten flights.

Ten Spanish Airports

The plan is now for actions to take place again at the ten Spanish airports where Ryanair operates from July 12 to 15, July 18 to 21 and July 25 to 28. The unions have also called on the Irish low-cost fighter to rejoin the negotiating table.

It has been restless in European aviation for some time. Problems clearly do not only arise at Schiphol, where airlines were instructed to limit the number of travelers due to excessive crowds. This weekend, for example, there is also a strike at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Staff there want a big pay rise.

Previously, there were already aviation strikes in countries such as Belgium and Italy. Spain-based easyJet cabin crew is also on strike for nine days this month for higher pay. The British airline therefore had to cancel five flights from Spain on Saturday.
