He was searched for for years, but the Spanish police were able to arrest a suspect of a brutal execution in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean six years ago. Two masked men on a scooter then drove a car into the street and shot the driver. A few years ago, the police distributed images of the hallucinatory facts.
They took place on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 9.40 pm, on the Ninoofsesteenweg near the Weststation. The video footage from the police shows how a scooter drives in front of an Audi A3 and then stops in the middle of an intersection. The scooter driver and passenger wear a white mask of the literary character ‘Fantomas’ and are heavily armed.
The motorist must have already known that something was wrong, because he is trying to turn around. However, the passenger of the scooter opens fire with a machine gun, which brings the car to a stop. The gunman then dismounts, walks to the driver’s side of the car and shoots his victim in the head with a handgun. Then the masked men take off on their scooter.
backseat
They don’t get far. A little further on, the scooter is involved in an accident. The driver loses consciousness. His passenger then carjacks a car. Footage shows him trying to drag his companion into the back seat. Finally a third masked man shows up with a car and he takes off with his two accomplices. First, however, they pick up another weapon that was left behind on the scooter.
The perpetrators have since gone missing. Three years ago, the federal police issued another call to witnesses. This was also discussed in the search program FAROEK Live, which led to several tips. It is not clear whether they helped to arrest the suspect.
That happened last Thursday in Spain, near Valencia. According to the regional newspaper Levante-El Mercantil Valenciano, it is Nikolaos D. (50), a dangerous criminal of Albanian origin. He was hiding in a house in La Pobla de Vallbona. After the Spanish police discovered this, agents went to the scene with a European arrest warrant. Ultimately, the suspect was arrested while driving on Avenida del Camp de Túria in nearby L’Eliana.
The suspect has since been transferred to Madrid. An investigating judge there decided that he will remain in jail until his extradition file is completed. Nikolaos D. – who has Belgian nationality – refuses to be extradited. According to legal sources, however, there are doubts about the evidence of the Belgian police against the man. The Spanish court has now requested D.’s complete file and will decide on the extradition on that basis.
Tiger kidnapping
Incidentally, the victim of the 2016 shooting was not a blank slate. It was 35-year-old Deniz Lal. The man from Charleroi was sentenced to five years in prison in 2009 after taking a bank manager, his brother and an employee hostage during a tiger kidnapping together with some Walloon accomplices. He was previously jailed for five years for bank robbery. Lal was on parole.
