FC Bayern has found a future heir for Robert Lewandowski in Mathys Tel. However, the 17-year-old youngster will probably not be able to fill the big gap left by the Pole. Therefore, Munich are now apparently targeting another striker.
Like the Catalan newspaper “Era” reports that FC Bayern is dealing with Raúl de Tomás from Espanyol Barcelona. Accordingly, the German record champions are currently examining whether a transfer of the Spanish national player can be realized.
De Tomás’ contract with Espanyol runs until 2026. According to reports, an exit clause of 70 million euros is anchored in the 27-year-old’s working paper. The LaLiga club is probably ready to talk from a fee of around 40 million euros.
De Tomás learned to play football at Real Madrid, but he was denied a breakthrough with the Royal team. In 2019 he therefore moved to Benfica for 20 million euros. After just six months at the Portuguese top club, de Tomás was sold on to Espanyol for 22.5 million euros.
Four caps for de Tomás
Since then, the center forward has scored 45 goals in 89 competitive games for the Catalans. There are also six templates. Last season, de Tomás netted 17 goals and set up three goals in 34 LaLiga games.
De Tomás has played four times for the Spanish national team, most recently in June 2022 in the Nations League. However, he has yet to score a goal.
With Mathys Tel, FC Bayern have already signed a new striker following the departure of Robert Lewandowski. The deal is not yet official, but the storm talent has already landed in Munich.
However, Tel is not initially planned as a 1:1 replacement for Lewandowski. Rather, the 17-year-old should be an investment in the future. In order to free the youngster from his contract with Stade Rennes, which runs until 2024, the Munich team is said to have paid around 30 million euros.
