Beijing (AP) – The Spanish figure skater Laura Barquero tested positive for the banned steroid clostebol at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, the International Testing Agency (ITA) said on Twitter.
Barquero finished eleventh in the pair skating competition alongside Marco Zandron. According to the ITA, she had already submitted the positive doping test after the short program. The case will now be heard before the International Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas.
Barquero has thus ensured the fourth positive doping test at the Winter Games, which ended on Sunday. The Iranian ski racer Hossein Saveh Shemshaki and the bobsledder Lidija Hunko and cross-country skier Valentina Kaminska (both Ukraine) had previously tested positive.
